We settled in local labor camps and worked for many years in the area's orchards and fields.\n\nIn time\, we left the camps. We purchased land in Corcoran\, Avenal\, Stratford and the Island District of Lemoore. We bought homes in Hanford. We raised families\, started businesses and made important contributions to our communities in myriad areas from local government and law enforcement to education and sports.\n\nThrough this exhibition\, you will learn about our lives in the labor camps and the central roles our churches and organizations have played. You will also meet the men and women whose talent\, hard work and leadership have made a positive difference in our cities and towns.\n\nCome celebrate Black History Month with us. It's not only our story\, it's the story of Kings County.\n\nCurators\n\nPaula Massey and Carolyn Hudgins\n\nPrivate group tours are available by appointment.
