Hanford has two general hospitals with 108 beds and 24 hour emergency
care facilities. In addition to basic acute care, services such as
Spiral CT Scanner, Intermediate Care Neo-natal Nursery, Cath Lab
and Home Health Care. There are 113.9 doctors and 44.7 dentists
per 100,000, population in Hanford.
Education:
Fifteen elementary schools, two junior high schools and two high
schools. Four four-year institutions, CSU Fresno, Chapman University
at LNAS, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Fresno Pacific
College, are within 30 miles. Six community colleges are within
30 miles, including one branch campus in Hanford. About 30 vocational-technical
schools are located within commutable distance, including four in
Hanford.
Cultural:
Sixty churches, one library, three newspapers, three museums, three
radio stations, nine direct TV channels, one cable TV system, twelve
banks, ten parks, six baseball parks, eighteen movie screens, eighty-one
restaurants, two theatrical groups, once art center and one local
symphony orchestra. Other recreational facilities include municipal
swimming pool, skateboard park, two 18-hole golf courses, and one
private country club. Year-round activities are available for various
ages through City Recreation Department, the local YMCA and 100
community clubs and organizations. The Sierra Nevada mountains and
the Pacific Ocean are within a two hour drive.
