Nateva Solomon

Nateva Solomon comes to the Hanford Chamber of Commerce with a proven commitment to the highest standards of ethics as a citizen, local businesswoman and devoted member of Kings County and Hanford.
Nateva Solomon, Board Member
Nateva was born in Lemoore in 1923 and graduated from Lemoore High with the class of 1941. Nateva opened her business in Lemoore in 1972 and became active with the Lemoore Chamber of Commerce. One of the major highlights, while a member of the Chamber of Commerce, was an agreement with the City of Lemoore to produce a Melodrama which played out live for three years in downtown Lemoore and funded a portion of the Christmas street lights the City later installed. The Melodrama was thoroughly enjoyed by many, yet the committee actors were quite relieved when their commitment with the city was fulfilled.

In 1965, Nateva was the first female business owner to receive the Citizen of the Year award. Nateva remained in business in Lemoore for 33 years.

Nateva later opened a business in Hanford and became an active member of the Hanford Downtown Improvement Agency holding the position of President for 4 years from 1987-1990. One of the DIA’s outstanding promotions which Nateva inspired was their Special downtown holiday promotion which turned the downtown into a Winter Wonderland complete with snow. This event was great fun for children and adults building snowmen and being the target for purposefully thrown snowballs.

When Gottschalks announced their opening in Hanford, Nateva was hired as their Bridal Registrar where Nateva remained for 10 years. During this time, Nateva also became a member of the Hanford Recreation department and was a popular instruction for Party planning classes offered through the Recreation Department.

Nateva retired from Gottschalks, yet remains active in her community.

Richard Douglas

Born in Fresno, Ca and raised in Selma, Richard Douglas attended Selma area schools. Following graduation from Selma High School in 1972, Douglas attended Reedley Junior College. While still in High School, he began working at his father’s Exxon station in Fowler, CA. Working on cars long before he even had a drivers license, Douglas worked in the automotive industry for greater than two decades, ultimately earning certification as an A.S.E. Certified Auto Technician.

Richard is currently employed with Family Health Care Network and the City of Hanford. His representation on the Board of Directors for Hanford Chamber of Commerce is a position he considers a volunteer assignment.

In his spare time, Richard is happily committed to community involvement serving on the Avenal State Prison Community Advisory Board, Kings County Museum Board, Kings County Fish and Game Commission, both the Hanford Christmas and Homecoming Parade Committees and serving as a member of the City of Hanford Parks and Recreation Commission.

Richard and his wife, Cee, have been married 24 years and have two children who are both 32 years old. They lost one daughter to cancer in 2005. They have two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Cee retired in 1999 from Kings County Office of Education but in 2005 went back to work part-time as a Teacher with Crossroads Charter Academy operated through Armona Union Elementary School District.
